I’ve been out here since July 5, and I’ve posted photos of the ship, the fishing operations, the lab, the critters, and the oceanographic data collection. But it’s been harder to capture the real superstar of this experience: the ocean.

The ocean changes every day, sometimes every hour.

Most of the photos I’ve taken don’t even begin to capture the movement of the wind and waves, or the colors of the water and the sky.

We’ve spent hours on the flybridge, talking, reading, and most of the time just looking at the ocean.

A couple of weeks ago, 12-15 foot seas off the coast of Northern California kept us from going outside for a few days.

The view from the fish lab is so beautiful, it amazes me every day.

And the sunsets! So many beautiful sunsets.

I wish I could share more than just photos with everyone. This is such an unforgettable experience!
